COMPRESSING A PDF FILE

Compressing your PDF files is very useful as it reduces the file size making it easier for emailing extra. Click Here to download the step by step guide.

 

 


CHANGING YOUR HOME PAGE

 

First open you Internet Explorer

 

Then click on Tools

 

Then click Internet Options

 

You should now see a box called Home page

 

(If you can’t see this click on the General tab along the top of the window)

 

Copy this text into the box:    http://www.pentalk.org/

 

Then click Apply and then Ok

 

 


ADDING GOOGLE TO THE TOP OF YOUR INTERNET EXPLORER

First: Click Here

 

Click on Install Google Toolbar 5

 

Click Accept and Download

 

Then Run

 

And then follow the steps through the installation

 


CHANGING YOUR BACKGROUND

 

Right click on your background and click on Properties. This will open a window (Box) with the heading Display Properties. Click on the Tap labelled Desktop.

 

There will be a box labelled Backgrounds. Within here you can click and view what each background looks like.

 

Or you can click Browse and choose your own picture to have as your background.

 

Finally you can choose if you want to Center, Title or Stretch the picture. This is done by clicking on the down arrow below Position.

 

Once happy with your choice click Apply to set the background

 


THE USE OF SHORT CUTS

 

Always tired of clicking Edit then Copy or Cut, and then Edit and Paste

 

Well here is a quick and easy way of Copying, Cutting and Pasting your text, pictures ect

 

To Copy:

 

Highlight the area you are copying

Then hold down Ctrl and the letter C on your keyboard

 

To Cut:

 

Highlight the area you are cutting

Then hold down Ctrl and the letter X on your keyboard

 

To Paste:

 

Hold down Ctrl and the letter V on your keyboard

 


CHANGE THE LOOK OF ALL YOUR FOLDERS

  

You like all your folders to look a certain way, but you don't want to change them all one by one? Well here is the quick way to do it

 

You have 4 options to chose from, select the option which you prefer

Thumbnails
Titles
Icons
Lists
Details

 

1. Open a folder


2. Click the View menu


3. Select the type of view you want (large, small, details, list, etc)


4. Click the View menu again


5. Select Arrange Icons


6. Select the type of arrange and if you want Auto Arrange


7. Look at your folder view. This will be the folder view that you are going to set as your default folder view if you continue. If you are not happy, continue to adjust the methods of viewing and arranging


7. Click the Tools menu


8. Click Folder Options


9. Click View tab


10. Click Apply to All Folders
